Could flexible working help to solve teacher shortages in England?

4 Mar

Schools in England should embrace flexible working to tackle the teacher supply crisis, according to a paper from think tank Policy Exchange.

Voice General Secretary Deborah Lawson commented:

“All avenues should be explored to address the teacher recruitment and retention crisis.

“We are sure that teachers would welcome the opportunity to return to, or remain in, their chose career in a way that allows them to both manage their workload and have time for their families.

“We would encourage schools to offer flexible working wherever possible.”
