Check out the National Improvement Hub

Earlier in the summer, I attended Education Scotland’s engagement event for the new online National Improvement Hub, and was given a ‘walk-through’ of the new ‘alpha’, or starter, version of the website.

Education Scotland’s web developers were keen to hear the views of people in regular touch with teachers and other education practitioners. Information from that session and others will be used to design the next, or ‘beta’, version of the Hub.

It is hoped that the Hub will become an important resource for practitioners in the years ahead, and is being designed to make it easy for them to find the materials and resources they need, including:

  • self-evaluation and improvement tools;
  • knowledge and research;
  • teaching and assessment resources;
  • exemplars of practice; and
  • support for online collaboration and networks.

It is also being developed to support the Scottish Government’s commitment to close the attainment gap, and initial content will include information for the Scottish Attainment Challenge.

The Hub will be accessible without a password, although this will be reviewed during the stakeholder engagement process. It will also link to Glow, which will continue to support digital learning and teaching across the curriculum and provide tools and services that enable collaboration, innovation and creativity for learners, practitioners and partners.

The Hub can be found on the Education Scotland website at: https://education.gov.scot/improvement.
