Voice’s Policy & Research team is about to embark on research looking at the inspection experience of early years registered providers in England.
We’d like to hear from providers / practitioners willing to share with us, in strict confidence, their judgement and what they are hoping for from April 2017, when early years inspection is brought in line with schools and further education and skills, with Ofsted directly managing all inspections.
Voice has welcomed the move by Ofsted to bring early years inspection in-house, which puts the sector on a level footing with schools and colleges. Tricia Pritchard, Voice’s Senior Professional Officer (Early Years, Childcare and Wider Workforce), said:
“This will improve the consistency, quality and accountability of early years judgements, that we believe have thus far been compromised by the transfer to private companies.
“However, Ofsted has not released any information on what measures are in place to ensure an effective transition to the new arrangements or on how any poor decisions / experiences are to be rectified, restoring confidence in the inspection process.”
