Mobiles in schools: ban them or use them? (updated)

Ofsted’s Chief Inspector has said that disruption during lesson times is often down to the use of mobiles. However, a Scottish Government working group has produced guidance on the use of mobile technology in schools (2014). Tom Bennett, the DfE’s ‘discipline tsar’ begins inquiry into pupil behaviour, including use of smartphones (2015). A former adviser to David Cameron wants under 16-year-olds to be banned from having smart phones and tablet computers (2016).
